What Do Military and Veteran Families Really Need?

June 11, 2020

Last fall, approximately 8,000 members of the military and veteran community answered MFAN’s call to share details of their lives with us for our 2019 Military Family Support Programming Survey presented by Cerner. We learned of challenges, victories, and everything in between as we explored all facets of military and veteran life.

For MFAN, research is the foundation of all we do. Our team uses a scientific, mixed-methods approach to understand the experiences of military families. As in previous years, the 2019 respondents mirror the active-duty force, you can learn more about our demographics here.

The findings we will share are complex. The data and stories illuminate the military and veteran family experience, and they give us tremendous, actionable data that we can use to identify and isolate problems, as well as to inform solutions.

Data Release on June 23

Due to limitations around in-person events, we have opted to release our findings through an online event. Our goal is simple: get the research in the hands of as many people as possible, as early as possible. Please join us on Tuesday, June 23, 2020, at 3 p.m. ET for an hour-long discussion with Q & A about the data and the lives behind it. While this is a free event, registration is required, so we do ask that you register online to secure your spot.

We encourage you to spread the word. This event is an important opportunity for leaders, policymakers, researchers, and those invested in the health and wellbeing of military families to learn. And, for military families, this is a chance to see the difference you made and will make by sharing your stories. To our respondents, thank you for your trust and for allowing MFAN to be your megaphone.
