Jenni Kain

Jenni is a longtime champion for Homefront Readiness and a proud Air Force spouse of 16 years, known for developing practical, policy-informed solutions that elevate military family support and national defense readiness.

Passion areas:

  • Homefront Readiness and national security
  • Policy solutions that center lived experience
  • Community-building and belonging across assignments
  • Bridging the gap between military families, DoD, and defense communities

Jenni has spent the past 16 years navigating military life, building community, and shaping the conversation around what it means to be mission-ready at home. With a background in barrier analysis and a passion for policy, she is dedicated to advancing support systems that reflect the real needs of today’s military families. Her advocacy is grounded in personal experience—beginning her military journey as part of an enlisted Air National Guard family and later transitioning into the active duty community as an officer’s spouse. This dual perspective gives her unique insight into the challenges and opportunities military families face.

Jenni served as a co-author of Defining Homefront Readiness: The Role of Military Families in National Security, a white paper developed through the Association of Defense Communities’ Military Spouse Leadership Initiative. She has also earned leadership certification through Harvard’s National Preparedness Leadership Initiative, as part of the Military Spouse Advocacy Network’s Leadership Development Program. Her work has been recognized with several honors, including 2025 Armed Forces Insurance Hurlburt Field Spouse of the Year and 2019 AFSOC Key Spouse of the Year.

She believes that building stronger bridges between families, installations, and communities is not just good for morale—it’s essential to the mission. Whether through formal leadership or everyday relationship-building, Jenni is driven by a commitment to create systems that are inclusive, resilient, and informed by lived experience.

She and her husband have been stationed across the country and overseas, from Southern California and Florida to three years in England. Each move has brought new challenges—from high operational tempos to the complexities of OCONUS life—and also new opportunities to create belonging. Jenni is raising two incredible kids, ages 10 and 13, who embrace the adventure of military life. Recently, she made the decision to return to school and finish her degree after a 20-year pause—proof that purpose and personal growth can evolve at any stage.

At heart, Jenni is a people person, always up for conversation or connection. Her favorite days are spent kayaking with her family, laughing through game nights, or floating in the ocean. She’s also a self-declared expert hammock napper—an underrated skill that speaks to her ability to rest, recharge, and show up ready to lead.
