We believe that a military family’s ability to thrive and serve concurrently is paramount to our all-volunteer force — for those who serve today and those who will choose to serve in the future. In all that we do, MFAN seeks to level the playing field for military families with dignified solutions that create a scalable model for change. That’s why we’ve introduced the MFANetwork, a collaborative, innovative program that leverages partnerships, data, and content to address four key pillars that are foundational to military family well-being.

Pillars of Military Family Well-being

Pillar 1: Supporting the Physical and Mental Health of the Whole Family

  • Identify solutions that promote dignity, reduce stigma, and build connection in support of military family wellness
  • Support physical, mental, and emotional health goals of military-connected individuals and their families in order to improve overall satisfaction with military life

Pillar 2: Navigating the Resources Needed for Growing Families

  • Raise awareness and enrollment in local and federal support programs, with a special focus on those that support family wellness and childcare accessibility
  • Highlight resources that support the health and wellness needs of the whole family, zeroing in on stressors such as deployment, caregiving, and transition
  • Identify and spotlight programs and services provided through MSO/VSO partners and community organizations developed for the unique needs of military-connected caregivers

Pillar 3: Supporting Families Through Military Moves

  • Support families as they navigate PCS/moving challenges and provide information and education to help overcome those pain points
  • Connect military families with tools and resources to help facilitate and ensure a smooth transition during OCONUS moves
  • Identify resources when families are dealing with less than ideal living conditions in military housing or in an off-base rental home
  • Help service members and their families secure appropriate housing by sharing resources to increase their understanding of earned benefits and legal protections

Pillar 4: Financial Support Now and Planning for the Future

  • Amplify programs that provide emergency support, financial education, and long term financial planning support for military-connected families
  • Explore intersection between programmatic areas that support family wellness and workforce readiness of service members and their spouses
  • Support military spouse employment by highlighting resources and content that help military spouses at all stages of their professional development and careers
