Her areas of passion are:

  • Supporting military caregivers as they navigate military medicine and the transition to civilian life
  • Ensuring accessible education

Jessie Nash comes from a proud lineage of military servicemen. Her deep-rooted connection to the armed forces — being a devoted spouse of an Army veteran and her experience as an autism mom — has shaped her worldview. Committed to caring for her three children and three disabled veteran family members, Jessie’s journey as a caregiver has become an integral part of her life, ultimately inspiring her to pursue a career in social work.

Beyond academia, Jessie continues her passion for helping others as a volunteer content curator for the American Red Cross Military and Veteran Caregiver Network. In this role, she connects members to vital caregiving resources and information, in hopes of making a tangible difference in the lives of those she serves. Her passion lies in supporting military caregivers as they navigate the complicated world of military medicine and transitioning into civilian life.

As a military kid, Jessie grew up in Alaska. She met her husband when she moved to Fairbanks for school and he was stationed at Fort Wainwright.

Presently, Jessie is a dedicated full-time student, working on her master’s degree in social work while also exploring minors in politics, history, and women, gender, and sexuality studies. Within her academic realm, she serves in leadership positions such as president of the Social Work Club, chief of staff for the Student Veteran Organization, and student ambassador for the Open Educational Resources Taskforce Committee. Fueling her fervor for accessible education, Jessie passionately engages in noteworthy projects centered on expanding Open Educational Resources and enhancing textbook accessibility for college students.

In her free time, Jessie loves to read and listen to audiobooks and podcasts. She tends to pair that with doing something crafty like painting or crocheting. Jessie is a mother of three wonderful children and one fur-baby. As a family, they enjoy spending their free time at the beach and camping.
