Lizann Lightfoot

Lizann Lightfoot is an experienced writer, editor, and speaker for the military community. After two decades with her Marine — which included seven deployments, six PCS moves, five children, and three years overseas — she specializes in sharing resources and encouragement with families through the many challenges of military life.

Due to the numerous deployments shaping the early part of her relationship, Lizann has been passionate about supporting military spouse through stressful times of deployments. To offer support, resources, and encouragement, she founded the Facebook group “Handle Deployment Like a Boss” in 2017 which has since grown to over 8,000 members. In 2019, Lizann was named Military Spouse of the Year for Naval Amphibious Base Coronado, California for her work supporting military families and loved ones through deployment.

Lizann is known as the “Seasoned Spouse,” creating a blog with the very name. She has crafted hundreds of informative articles, which have been published on military websites and in magazines, and is the author of several non-fiction books for a military audience. She is the author of Ultimate Deployment Guide, Welcome to Rota, and Open When: Letters of Encouragement for Military Spouses. When she isn’t writing, she speaks at engagements around the country, including the national Military Influencer Conference. She plans to continue this work encouraging the military community even after her spouse’s retirement.

Lizann and her husband have five children, ages 15, 13, 11, 9, and 3. She is an active member in her church community and loves to participate in book clubs, bake, and complete puzzles.
