Shelley Drisko

Shelley Drisko is a Coast Guard spouse, a disabled Coast Guard veteran, and the child of a Navy veteran. She is the ombudsman for USCG Patrol Forces Southwest Asia and has extensive experience with the non-education side of vocational rehabilitation, veterans’ benefits, and survivor benefits. After taking a Boots to Books college class, a program that works with veterans returning to school, Shelley became passionate about resources for service members, veterans, and their families.

She also has a background in emergency preparedness and response, having volunteered as an EMT and firefighter for six years and a Community Emergency Response Team leader for five years. She also served one AmeriCorps term with Ready Wisconsin as an emergency preparedness coordinator for Dane County Emergency Management.

Shelley is a licensed practical nurse and is studying for a bachelor’s degree in vocational rehabilitation. She, her husband, and their two sons live in Chesapeake, Virginia, and are training their golden retriever, Sandi, as an autism service dog for their older son.
