Readout of Military Family Financial Readiness Coalition 2022 Q2 Meeting

June 06, 2022

The Military Family Financial Readiness Coalition (MFFRC) gathered in Arlington, Virginia on May 13 for the second meeting of 2022. This group brings together financial experts and the military community to share best practices, present timely information, and address opportunities to more effectively meet the financial needs of military and veteran families.

FINANCIAL Education for Troops

Life Skills for Soldiers wants to ensure our troops are well equipped to build a stable foundation for their finances. Founder Brendan Duebner joined the MFFRC meeting to share a pilot program aimed to improve troops’ financial health through tailored and engaging educational courses. Learn more here.

Veterans benefits banking program

The Association of Military Banks of America (AMBA) brings together community banks and large multinational financial institutions to serve our service members wherever they may be.

During the meeting, AMBA discussed the importance of the Veterans Benefits Banking Program (VBBP). This program supports veterans through best-in-class financial resources and advice. One of these resources is VetCents, powered by MFAN, which offers information on budgeting, saving, credit, investing, and homebuying, as well as 1:1 support.

Making Connections

Lacey Langford, the self-proclaimed Military Money Expert, shares tools, tips, and personal experience that helps military families take control of their financial well-being.

At the MFFRC meeting, Lacey recapped MilMoneyCon, a conference that allows military families to connect with others in the personal finance space and hear from professionals about navigating the most pressing financial topics facing our military community. Access resources here.

Giving tuesday military

The Armed Forces Financial Network discussed the importance of giving back to our military community. In 2019, Giving Tuesday Military launched to unite all branches of service in a fundraising effort for organizations that support our service members, veterans, and their families.

Giving Tuesday Military takes place on November 29, 2022. However, this initiative hopes that people will continue to show their support for our armed forces year-round.
