WIC for Military Families

October 06, 2023

The Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) provides supplemental foods, health care referrals, and nutrition education for pregnant, breastfeeding, and postpartum women and children from birth to age five. This valuable federal benefit is available to many military families, but questions related to eligibility requirements, PCS moves, and uncertainty of how many services WIC offers can lead to underutilization of this program.

MFAN is committed to ensuring that military families have access to the resources and information they need to meet the needs of their growing families. In partnership with WIC offices located on or near military bases nationwide, we have answered some of the most commonly asked questions and compiled information specifically for military families interested in learning more about WIC.

Every family’s situation is unique, so we encourage you to visit signupwic.com to find the WIC office nearest you. Here you can connect with a professional who can help you understand all that WIC can do to help ensure a happy, healthy future for you and your military kids!

Am I eligible?

Now that you’ve learned about everything WIC offers, let’s unpack eligibility requirements and the guidelines that apply specifically to military-connected families.

What happens when I PCS?

PCSing is a part of military life, and for many families, that means moving while enrolled in the WIC program. The good news is that your WIC benefits can move with you. And with a little preparation, you can get set up with benefits before your HHG even gets delivered.
